Rotting to the Core

You should read the entirety of Matt Gemmell’s article, The Fallen Apple, it’s great.

At work I’m surrounded by tech normies, and I’ve heard two people actively complain about the “new Apple version” now running on their iPhones. I can only presume that millions of other people who don’t blog, don’t read tech news, and play Candy Crush and use Instagram, also hate Liquid Glass.

This is a monumental misstep, but declining performance and living on past grandeurs is fast becoming the new Apple way.

As Matt says:

Apple’s old and hard-won reputation just doesn’t ring true now. The company feels like a performance of itself, diverging farther and farther from the original, shuddering with escalating dysfunction, and held together by the sheer, grotesque extent of its indentured income.
